Unit Description: Stepdown is a 36-bed adult intermediate care unit treating acutely ill patients with medical problems related to renal disease, cardiac disease, respiratory disease, and other medical issues including post-surgical and dialysis patients. The unit requires BLS upon hire and ACLS within 6 months. Nurses manage medication drips such as insulin and cardiac medications per physician orders.

Provide professional nursing care within an assigned unit and coordinate care planning with other disciplines.
Exposed to infectious, contagious, and blood-borne diseases. Contact with patients in various circumstances. Must handle emergency or crisis situations. Occasionally irregular hours. Exposure to radiation possible.
LPN, CNA, WS, Tech, MOA
Stewardship of supplies and resources.
Assess patients, develop care plans, assist physicians, evaluate outcomes, coordinate discharge, document conditions, maintain confidentiality, educate patients and families, communicate during hand-offs, and perform miscellaneous duties including mentoring new staff. Charge duties after 6 months of experience.
Stand up to 12 hours, walk, sit, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, talk, hear, smell, lift up to 35 pounds, utilize patient transfer devices, and have good vision and perception.
Interpret manuals and procedures, write reports, present information, perform math calculations, define problems, interpret instructions, multitask, and prioritize responsibilities.
Interact with all age groups, providing care suited to diverse cultural backgrounds and needs.
Graduation from an accredited nursing school, current RN license in South Carolina, BLS certification. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Some clinical experience preferred.
