Job summary

Ciena Healthcare is recruiting for a Weekend-Only RN Charge Nurse to oversee resident care delivery during assigned weekend shifts. You will supervise LPNs and CNAs, coordinate interdisciplinary care, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance under the direction of the Director of Nursing/designee.

The role requires strong clinical leadership, the ability to plan and assign work, and use sound judgment to maintain high-quality resident care on weekends.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Michigan.
• Current CPR certification or CPR within 90 days of employment.
• Experience in long-term care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises LPNs, CNAs/STNAs and coordinates care delivery.
• Plans, assigns, and directs work to match resident needs and staff capabilities.
• Adjusts staffing and breaks to ensure resident safety and continuity of care.
• Receives staffing-related calls and arranges replacements as needed.
• Oversee unit operations during absence of higher-level management.
• Conducts performance evaluations and provides input on staffing decisions.

Weekend-Only Position

The RN Charge Nurse is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the delivery of resident care during assigned shifts in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and facility policy under the direction and supervision of the Director of Nursing/designee. This role provides clinical supervision to nursing staff, ensures continuity of care, and serves as a key resource for residents, families, and staff.

• Prepares work assignments, adjusting for staffing levels and resident safety
• Receives staffing-related calls and arranges replacements as needed
• Transfers employees among units per staffing demands
• Completes performance evaluations and provides input on hiring, disciplining, or terminating staff
• Adjusts break schedules and resolves staff concerns
• Oversee unit operations during absence of higher-level management
• Use independent judgement in accordance with company policies and applicable laws

Education and/or experience:

• Preferred: Minimum of two years’ experience in a long-term care setting

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

• Current state license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Current CPR certification or CPR certification within 90 days of employment.
