WIS News 10 in Columbia, South Carolina is seeking a Weekend Meteorologist to join our First Alert Weather team. You will pair strong scientific expertise with a digital-first approach for linear broadcasts, OTT, and social storytelling.

The role demands live, field reporting, sharp radar interpretation, and the ability to create engaging video content for YouTube, TikTok, and social platforms. Weekend and holiday shifts, plus a valid driver’s license, are required.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of on-air and digital broadcast meteorology experience.
Demonstrated track record of creating engaging video content for digital, OTT, and social platforms.
Hands-on proficiency with WSI MAX.
AMS or CBM/NWA seal preferred.
Valid driver’s license with an insurable, clean driving record.
Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and breaking/severe weather shifts as needed.
Bachelor's degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science.

Responsibilities

Lead multiplatform weather storytelling across linear broadcast, OTT/streaming, mobile apps, and social channels.
Create dynamic, native digital weather content (short videos, live updates, radar breakdowns).
Own the Midlands Forecast with accurate, actionable coverage for Columbia and surrounding areas.
Deliver rapid, calm coverage during severe weather events across on-air and digital platforms.
Report from the field with immersive weather storytelling for live viewers.
