Job summary

Nexstar Media Group Inc. in Mobile, AL, is seeking a full-time Meteorologist/Multimedia Journalist for weekend shifts to deliver accurate weather forecasts across platforms and to engage viewers during severe weather coverage.

You will work with the weather and news teams, shoot and edit stories from the field, post updates on social media, and assist with hurricane specials while maintaining journalistic standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology, Journalism, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Strong forecasting knowledge and proven track record.
• Confident on-camera presence with ability to adlib.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with weather-related hardware/software and newsroom systems.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
• Self-directed learner with responsive coaching mindset.
• Experience in forecasting and content creation preferred.
• Flexibility to work any shift; English fluency required.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• Proficiency with office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Produce and present weather forecasts for all platforms.
• Respond to severe weather events and breaking news.
• Collaborate with weather team and news managers on coverage.
• Maintain high standards of journalistic integrity and production quality.
• Represent the station at events and engage with the community.
• Shoot/write/edit/deliver field stories in weather and/or news.
• Interact with viewers on social media and online platforms.
• Assist with weather programming and hurricane specials.
• Fill in for Traffic Anchor when needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
