Job summary

WIS News 10, part of Gray Media, is seeking aWeekend Meteorologist to join our First Alert Weather team in Columbia, South Carolina. You will produce and deliver weather content across broadcast, OTT, and social platforms, combining strong meteorological expertise with a digital-first approach.

The role requires at least 2 years of on-air and digital meteorology experience, proficiency with WSI MAX, and a Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of on-air and digital broadcast meteorology experience.
• Experience creating engaging video content for digital platforms (OTT, social).
• Hands-on proficiency with WSI MAX.
• Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science.
• AMS or CBM/NWA seal preferred.
• High-Pressure Execution: ability to handle live severe weather coverage.
• Schedule Flexibility: weekends, holidays, and breaking weather shifts.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiplatform weather storytelling across broadcast, OTT, and social channels.
• Drive digital engagement with native weather content and radar breakdowns.
• Own the Midlands Forecast for Columbia and surrounding areas.
• Command severe weather coverage with calm, authoritative delivery on air and online.
• Deliver live, immersive field reporting during significant weather events.
• Collaborate with Chief Meteorologist and newsroom leadership for seamless coverage.
• Report from the field and contribute to streaming/weather-focused shows.
