Job summary

Holy Cross Health in Silver Spring, MD is seeking a part-time Medical Technologist for PRN weekend shifts in the Microbiology department. The role involves performing specimen processing, microscopy, and a broad range of routine and specialized tests with a focus on accuracy and turnaround time.

The successful candidate will hold a B.S. in Clinical Laboratory Technology or equivalent, be eligible for ASCP/AMT/NCA certification, and demonstrate strong computer literacy and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Technology or equivalent with required rotations.
• Satisfactory completion of a NAACLS-accredited Medical Technologist program.
• ASCP/AMT/NCA certification or eligibility; must pass within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Performs specimen processing and microscopy, including inoculation of media and preparation of stained smears.
• Performs infectious agent detection and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
• Documents results and communicates with physicians and staff; maintains records.
• Operates and maintains laboratory equipment; participates in QA programs.
• Assists with training and competency evaluation of testing personnel.
