Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician for the Weekend Alternative (WA) shift. The role performs routine and complex analyses, ensuring specimens are accessioned and processed efficiently to deliver quality results.

A strong emphasis on critical thinking and patient safety guides day-to-day operations. Eligible for the Weekend Alternative differential, the position requires ASCP and AMT credentials and hospital laboratory experience.

Qualifications

• Must have graduated from an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) indicated.
• One year of work or training experience in a hospital laboratory preferred

Responsibilities

• Promotes a positive, team-focused work environment and communicates pertinent patient care information.
• Teaches students, new employees and others as assigned by Manager.
• Participates in laboratory and organization-wide initiatives.
• Performs qualitative and quantitative tests and examinations using analyzers or manual methods.
• Organizes workload and sets priorities; meets turnaround time expectations.
