Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician for a PRN night shift, working Saturdays and Sundays from 6:00pm to 6:30am, every other weekend. The role requires performing routine and complex analyses, ensuring specimens are processed expeditiously and results are delivered accurately.

Strong English communication, judgment, and integrity are essential to support patient care in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Qualifications

• Education program approved by credentialing body for required credential(s).
• One year of work or training experience in a hospital laboratory preferred.
• Must have one of the following within one year of hire: MLT– Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP); CLA– Certified Laboratory Assistant (ASCP); MLT– Medical Laboratory Technician (AMT).

Responsibilities

• Performs qualitative and quantitative tests using analyzers or manual methods.
• Organizes workload and prioritizes tasks to meet turnaround time expectations.
• Maintains accuracy and follows SOPs, instrument calibrations, and quality control procedures.
• Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, and staff to support patient care.
