Job description

Position Overview

The Maintenance employee must work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. The role involves maintaining rolling stock, sprinkler systems, shavings bins, and general maintenance throughout the mill. Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing sawmill and other equipment. There may be occasional weekend and night shifts, and some exposure to the elements. The position requires cleaning oil spills, removing parts after installations, and keeping the shop clean.

This role demands a self-motivated individual willing to work safely within a team-based system. The candidate should be able to schedule, prioritize, and complete tasks timely. Good troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills are essential for proper repairs. Preventive and predictive maintenance skills are required to ensure equipment safety and efficiency. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must. A desire for continuous technical skill improvement and quality workmanship is necessary to meet increasing customer demands.

Responsibilities

• Work safely and follow all policies to ensure a safe working environment.
• Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work requirements.
• Install, align, dismantle, and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment using hand and power tools.
• Inspect machinery and equipment for irregularities and malfunctions.
• Install, troubleshoot, and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts.
• Perform routine maintenance such as cleaning and lubricating machinery.
• Complete other tasks and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have knowledge in:

• AC/DC wiring methods
• AC/DC drives/motors
• PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, B&R, Beckhoff)
• Touchscreens
• Mechanical systems (bearings, alignment, chains, belts)
• Pneumatics and hydraulics
• Design and fabrication
• Preventive & predictive maintenance on production machinery
• Mill and Lathe experience is a plus
