The Largest Independent Established Multi-Specialty Group in Central North Carolina is seeking a Weekend Lab Assistant to join our team at the Kernersville Lab location.

Summary of Position:

The Weekend Lab Assistant performs daily specimen receiving processes according to laboratory guidelines. Responsibilities include monitoring specimen logs, ensuring receipt of acceptable specimens, and notifying the supervisor of any issues.

Responsibilities:

1. Receive specimens, verify samples against manifests.
2. Create orders, print labels, and requisitions in the Harvest LIS system.
3. Sort samples and prepare racks for analysis.
4. Reject or cancel samples per protocols.
5. Handle urine samples appropriately.
6. Order and send out specimens to reference labs.
7. Check and discard samples as scheduled.
8. Process Occupational Health urine samples.
9. Complete temperature logs and report out-of-range temperatures.
10. Respond to calls and inquiries within Bethany Medical Center.
11. Ensure a safe working environment.
12. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

• High School diploma or equivalent.

Continuing Education (CE) Requirements:

• No specific CE requirements, but 4 units every 2 years are encouraged.

Physical and Mental Demands:

• Ability to analyze variables, react under stress, and adapt to various situations.
• Physical ability to operate laboratory equipment, stand, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions:

• Saturday and Sunday, 9 am to 6 pm, with occasional overtime.
