Job summary

Vista Vet Animal Hospital & Pet Lodge is seeking a Veterinary Kennel Assistant to join our team in Round Rock, TX. This role focuses on patient husbandry, care, and general housekeeping throughout the hospital.

You will care for boarding patients, administer medications, and help monitor for medical or behavioral concerns with detailed documentation. This part-time position offers weekend coverage (Saturday and Sunday) with potential for full-time for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience as a veterinary kennel assistant / kennel technician preferred.
• Will consider related experience within animal care such as boarding / doggy daycare attendant, FFA or 4H background.
• A genuine passion for animal care and patient wellbeing.
• Confidence working with dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments.
• Ability to safely handle, restrain, walk, and monitor animals under supervision.
• Strong awareness of animal behavior and willingness to learn patient safety and handling techniques.
• Comfort with basic animal husbandry including feeding, watering, bathing, grooming maintenance, and monitoring overall patient condition throughout the day.
• Ability to stay organized and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Physical ability to meet the demands of a hands-on animal care role.
• Strong observational skills and willingness to communicate patient concerns to the veterinary team

Responsibilities

• Provide meals and walks to boarding patients.
• Administer medication and monitor for medical or behavioral concerns.
• Sanitize kennels, common spaces, and treatment areas; stock supplies.
• Provide light patient restraint support to the clinical team as needed.
• Document observations clearly and promptly.
• Contribute to a team-focused environment and support veterinary staff as needed.
