Job summary

Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center (VBPC) is seeking a PRN Group Therapist to provide inpatient group therapy on Saturdays and Sundays, 10am–6pm. The role includes leading therapeutic groups, documenting progress, and ensuring HIPAA compliance within a multidisciplinary team in Virginia Beach, VA.

Ideal candidates hold an MS in social work, psychology, or sociology and have 2+ years in a social work setting, with a valid Virginia driver’s license and ability to work with diverse populations.

Qualifications

• MS degree in social work, psychology or sociology required.
• Active member of Clinical Services/Social Work department.
• Experience facilitating therapeutic process and psychoeducational groups.
• Maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients.
• Two or more years preferred in a Social Work environment.
• Requires valid Virginia Driver’s License.
• Able to follow written and oral instructions.
• Working knowledge of social theories and practices.
• Social perceptiveness and empathy.
• Ability to build and maintain professional helping relationships.
• Ability to relate and communicate with diverse population and groups.
• Resilience along with ability to assess situations.

Responsibilities

• Provides therapeutic process and psychoeducational groups to patients in an inpatient setting.
• Responsible for documentation of group therapy with final endorsement authorization.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of clinical interventions based on daily progress of the patient.
• Participate in team and committee meetings, as assigned.
• Monitors federal, state and local laws and corporate HIPAA information and notifies management of applicable information and changes.
• Reports HIPAA related problems, issues or concerns, when deemed appropriate or necessary.
• Works with staff and committees to ensure privacy and confidentiality consent, authorization forms and current practices and requirements.
• Ensures HIPAA training is provided to new interns.
• Provides group therapy for identified units evidenced by completed progress notes.
• Attends social work meetings monthly 100% evidenced by log in sheet
