Mountain Valley Hospice is seeking a Weekend Hospice Nurse (RN) on-call for Friday 5:00pm–8:00am and Saturday/Sunday shifts, serving the Mt Airy/ Dobson area in North Carolina. You will travel to patient homes as needed, providing symptom management and end-of-life care.

The role is home-based on-call, not fully remote, with in-person visits and travel required. A NC RN license and hospice/home health experience are preferred.

Are you looking for a nursing role without a full caseload and nonstop visits—but still want to provide meaningful, hands‑on care during some of life’s most important moments?

This weekend position is on call from home, but it is not fully remote. You must be available to travel for in-person visits when patient needs arise—including urgent symptom management and end-of-life care.

You’ll cover Friday 5:00pm-8:00am Saturday and Sunday 4:00pm-8:00am, responding to patient and family needs as they arise. There is no assigned caseload or scheduled visits—care is driven by patient needs and can vary throughout the shift.

In this role, you will provide phone triage and support, travel to patient homes when needed, and deliver care for symptom management, active decline, and at times, support patients and families at the end of life—including during and immediately after death. These are often the moments when your presence matters most.
