Job summary

MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is seeking a Health Information Management Specialist II for weekends in a PRN capacity. The role focuses on reviewing discharge records for completeness, classifying records to services, and guiding providers to ensure regulatory compliance.

The position requires at least a high school diploma, about 2 years of HIM experience, and strong verbal/written communication plus medical terminology knowledge. On-site work with a weekend schedule is provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 2 years of hospital HIM experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and basic computer skills is required.

Responsibilities

• Review discharge records for completeness and classify to proper service.
• Work daily task queues and assist providers with deficiencies.
• Coordinate with physicians on suspensions and follow-ups as needed.
• Assist clinicians with questions about deficiencies in the electronic record.
• Process record requests and prepare records/logs for offsite storage.
