Job summary

IFF in Palo Alto, CA is seeking an experienced fermentation technician weekend shift supervisor to support growth and development of a non-exempt team. You will safely conduct fermentation activities, including batching, inoculating, sampling and vessel cleaning, and collaborate with scientists, engineers and operations to advance R&D projects.

The ideal candidate holds an Associates of Science or bachelor’s in chemical/biochemical/biological engineering or a related technical field, with

Qualifications

Associates of Science or bachelor’s degree in a related technical field.
Fundamental understanding of fermentation, bioprocessing or biotechnology principles.
Experience in a laboratory, pilot plant or manufacturing environment through internships, research projects or professional experience.

Responsibilities

Direct manager of a weekend shift supervising non-exempt fermentation technicians.
Safely conduct fermentation support activities including batching, inoculating, sampling and vessel cleaning.
Partner with scientists, engineers and operations to execute research and development projects.
Assist with process troubleshooting and root cause investigations for fermentation and downstream processing.
Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety, quality and environmental standards.
Support technology transfer activities from development to manufacturing.
