Job summary

TEGNA Inc. in the United States seeks a Weekend Evening Anchor for 9NEWS. The role involves anchoring Saturdays and Sundays, live reporting three evenings weekly, and gathering, shooting, writing, and editing stories under tight deadlines.

You will work with a on-air team to deliver accurate, engaging local news across platforms, with opportunities to fill in on other newscasts as needed. Competitive pay ranges with strong newsroom support.

Qualifications

• Superior on-camera communication skills.

• Three to five years of experience in daily electronic journalism.

Responsibilities

• Anchor Saturday/Sunday weekend evenings. Other newscasts as assigned.
• Write and copy edit stories under deadline.
• Work closely with the on-air and off-air team to produce a market leading newscast.
• On reporting days, identify and pitch multiple story possibilities.
• On reporting days, gather, shoot, write and edit news stories under deadline.
• In some instances, work directly with photojournalists to produce stories.
• Report live from the scene of various news stories.
• Produce a digital version of each broadcast story.
• Produce mobile short stories in real time as stories are breaking and developing

9NEWS is looking for a talented and dynamic Weekend Evening Anchor for our newscasts on Saturdays and Sundays. The successful candidate will demonstrate superior on-camera communication skills as well as the ability to engage in spontaneous conversation with other members of the on-air team. Weekday responsibilities include live reporting 3 evenings a week for the nightside news. Additionally gather, shoot, write and edit stories as well as filling in as an anchor on other newscasts if needed.

Pay Range: $100,000 - $115,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

Here’s What You Need

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or communication preferred.
• Three to five years of experience in daily electronic journalism, including regular opportunities to anchor newscasts.
• Thorough understanding of journalism practices and ethics.
• Curiosity.
