Job summary

TEGNA Inc. operates KREM 2 in Spokane and seeks a Weekend Evening Anchor for Saturday and Sunday evenings, with reporting duties on weekdays. The role requires strong on-air presence and the ability to contribute to other newscasts as needed.

The candidate should have newsroom experience, the ability to generate story ideas, and to shoot, write, and edit under tight deadlines. A journalism degree and ethics knowledge are important.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in journalism or communication.
• Three to five years of daily journalism experience, including regular opportunities to anchor newscasts.
• Understanding of journalism practices and ethics.

Responsibilities

• Anchor Saturday/Sunday weekend evenings. Other newscasts as assigned.
• Write and copy edit stories under deadline.
• Lead coverage decisions and breaking news response on weekend shifts
• Train and mentor weekend staff
• On reporting days, identify and pitch multiple story possibilities.
• On reporting days, gather, shoot, write and edit news stories under deadline.
• Produce a digital version of each broadcast story.
• Produce mobile short stories in real time as stories are breaking and developing

KREM 2 is looking for a talented and dynamic Weekend Evening Anchor for our newscasts on Saturdays and Sundays. The successful candidate will demonstrate superior on-camera communication skills as well as the ability to engage in spontaneous conversation with other members of the on-air team. Weekday responsibilities include reporting as well as filling in as an anchor on other newscasts if needed.

Pay Range

$26.44 - $29.80 USD
