Job summary

Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists Albuquerque is seeking a Relief Veterinary Technician – Emergency to join weekend day and night shifts. You will triage emergency patients, assist in procedures, monitor anesthesia, and operate radiography equipment to support pets in crisis.

Eligible candidates are RVT or equivalent with emergency experience, able to remain calm under pressure, and with strong client communication. Weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• RVT certification or equivalent emergency/critical care experience.
• Strong anesthesia, venipuncture, and patient monitoring skills.
• Able to stay calm and compassionate under pressure.
• Excellent communication with clients and team.
• Weekend shifts required.
• Commitment to animal welfare and ongoing learning.

Responsibilities

• Triage incoming emergency patients and relay critical information.
• Assist veterinarians in emergency procedures.
• Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment.
• Administer medications and place IV catheters.
• Monitor hospitalized patients and document changes.
• Provide compassionate client communication.
• Maintain a clean, stocked treatment area.
