Job summary

AmeriWell Care in Manchester, New Jersey is seeking a committed Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one support for a respite recipient. The role focuses on daily living assistance, community engagement, supervision, and safeguarding health and safety during weekend shifts.

This part-time weekend position offers a stable schedule (Saturdays and Sundays, 9:00 AM–9:00 PM) with ongoing training, supportive management, and opportunities to develop essential caregiving skills while

Qualifications

• Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
• DSP, caregiver, HHA, CNA, or related experience encouraged.
• Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.
• Ability to pass background screening and complete required trainings.
• Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support in the individual's home and community.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed.
• Promote independence, dignity, and person-centered care.
• Accompany and support the individual during community outings and recreational activities.
• Monitor health, safety, and behavioral needs.
• Maintain accurate documentation and daily notes.
• Communicate effectively with family members, care team members, and agency staff.
• Follow all AmeriWell Care policies and NJ DDD requirements.
