Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing or related field including practicum
• Bachelor's degree with 1 year of clinical experience (min 1,820 hours) in health/human services, preferably drug/alcohol setting
• Associate's degree with 2 years of clinical experience (min 1,820 hours) in health/human services, preferably drug/alcohol setting
• If experience not in drug/alcohol setting, must address plan to achieve counseling competency in chemical dependency

Responsibilities

• Administers assessments and revises individualized treatment goals
• Documents patient progress to support UR and treatment planning goals
• Provides information at case conferences and participates in treatment planning
• Delivers individual counseling and group therapy
• Keeps referral sources updated on patient progress and maintains family contacts
• Maintains aftercare planning and discharge summaries in a timely manner
• Performs admissions evaluations and refers to appropriate level of care based on ASAM criteria

Malvern Treatment Centers is currently seeking part time Weekend Counselors to work at our Malvern Treatment Center facility in Philadelphia. The location of our Malvern Treatment Centers - Philadelphia is located at 3905 W. Ford Road - Philadelphia, PA 19131.The Weekend Counselor position is a part time opportunity working every other Saturday and Sunday for 8, 10 or 12 hours each day. The position could also be an every weekend position if an applicant would like to work every weekend.The mission of the Counselor is to counsel patients regarding all aspects of their addiction. He or she must be an active member of the treatment team in the formulation of assessments, treatment plans, diagnostic summaries, progress notes, and continuing care planning. The Counselor will provide supportive individual counseling, conduct group therapy, and review clients at case conferences with other team members. He or she must have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills to provide these services to clients with chemical dependencies.The ideal candidate has a Master's degree or higher from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing, or other related field that includes a practicum in a health or human service agency, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting. Other acceptable degrees and experience would be a Bachelor's degree in a related field with one year of clinical experience (minimum of 1820 hours) in a health or human service agency, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting, or an Associate's degree in a related field with two years of clinical experience (minimum of 1820 hours) in a health or human services agency. If a candidate’s experience did not take place in a drug and alcohol setting, his or her written training plan must specifically address a plan to achieve counseling competency in chemical dependency issues. He or she must have full certification in this state as an Addictions Counselor and must be licensed in this state if a Registered Nurse (RN).
