Job summary

The City of Round Rock, TX is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer under general supervision to identify and abate nuisance violations and ensure compliance with nuisance codes, zoning codes and all other applicable city codes. The shift for this position will be full days on Saturdays and Sundays.

Requirements include a high school diploma and 1+ year of experience in code enforcement or related fields, plus a valid Texas driver's license and state registration within a year.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
• One (1) or more years of experience in code enforcement or similar position, such as inspections or neighborhood coordination.

Responsibilities

• Performs field investigations for alleged violations; notifies property occupants of various violations; accesses and researches public databases; provides accurate information about the ordinances objectives; maintains current and accurate information on the database; provides information on ordinances and compliances; maintains right-of-ways free of bandit signs, removing signs and providing information.
• Coordinates city abatements with contract vendor by initiating work orders, lien document and billing notices; accompanies vendors to violation sites; requests billing when contract abatement is completed; submits and approves invoice for payment; scans and downloads documents to case files.
• Refers cases to City Attorney; prepares all case files for litigations; monitors and compiles evidences and follows up with attorney.
• Makes changes, corrections and additions to the code enforcement system; identifies system changes and makes necessary corrections and adjustments; submits reports for monthly summary report submittal; assures that tracking and efficiency is up to date.

Posted pay range is the starting salary. Pay rate offered is based on experience.
