Job summary

Eastern Health Group is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to join our weekend shifts in Virginia Beach. You will provide direct resident care under licensed supervision, assist with daily activities, and support a compassionate environment for residents.

Responsibilities include promoting safety, recording vitals, assisting with meals, and collaborating with nursing staff to implement the care plan. Excellent English communication and a professional, confidential approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Current Nursing Assistant certification from state OR.
• Current/active CPR certification, preferred.
• Effective verbal and written English communication skills.
• Demonstrated intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook, Internet and Intranet navigation.
• Highest level of professionalism with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to communicate at all levels of organization and work well within a team environment.
• Customer service oriented with the ability to work well under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy, excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize, coordinate and simultaneously maintain multiple projects with high level of quality and productivity.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, take initiative and make independent decisions.
• Ability to deal with new tasks without the benefit of written procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care (i.e., grooming, bathing, dressing, oral care, etc.) of residents daily and as needed.
• Ambulate and transfer residents, utilizing appropriate assistive devices and body mechanics.
• Record resident vital signs, weights and measurements, intake and output, food consumption, and other information, as assigned.
• Routinely turn and position residents, as necessary. Observe residents carefully and report changes in condition to Charge Nurse.
• Participate in collecting data for MDS and care plan development with input to nurses.
• Provide adequate hydration to residents at regular intervals according to resident needs.
• Prepare residents for meals and transport to dining room with accessible food trays and self-help devices.
• Keep accurate records of food intake and output; maintain housekeeping standards.
• Assist nursing staff with aseptic and sterile techniques to avoid infection.
• Take TPR, BP, and other readings as directed.
• Promptly answer call lights and assist with other resident needs.
• Use proper body mechanics when lifting or transporting residents.
• Assist in orientation and training of other staff; undertake other duties as assigned.
