Job summary

Highland Hospital in Charleston, WV is seeking a part-time Behavioral Health Technician to support acute care teams on weekends. Under supervision, you will monitor patients, assist with daily living activities, document observations, and participate in crisis de-escalation as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Six months or more experience with the specified population preferred.
• Knowledge of psychiatric disorders and treatment modalities preferred.
• CPR and de-escalation training required or obtained upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the wellbeing of patients and provides a safe, positive, supportive environment under supervision.
• Assists clients with activities of daily living and personal care.
• Conducts safety checks and monitors patients as directed.
• Interacts with patients, observes behaviors, and communicates significant observations to supervisor.
• Takes and records vital signs and reports changes to the clinical team.
• Facilitates patient educational-rehabilitative groups covering social and independent living skills.
• Documents patient interactions and charts timely; assists with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
