Job summary

WTOK-TV/Gray Media in Mississippi is seeking a multi-talented Weekend Anchor / Producer / MMJ to join our news team. This hybrid role combines weekend anchoring and production with a strong digital focus to drive traffic and engagement.

You will shoot, write, edit local stories, manage web and social updates, and contribute to multiple platforms while delivering compelling, accurate coverage under tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field preferred.
• Experience in shooting, writing, and non-linear editing.
• Strong on-camera presence and teleprompter skills.
• Ability to write concise broadcast copy and AP-style web articles.
• Experience with CMS and professional social publishing.
• Strong time-management and ability to work under deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and in a newsroom team.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.

Responsibilities

• Produce & Anchor: Own the weekend newscasts, stack and write rundowns, anchor live broadcasts.
• Digital Ownership: Manage and update web, app, and social channels on weekends.
• Content & Trend Monitoring: Watch local social pages for breaking stories and tips.
• MMJ Reporting: Pitch, shoot, write, and edit local stories daily.
• Digital Content Integration: Turn broadcast stories into web stories and social posts.
• Platform Consistency: Publish assets across WTOK's social platforms.
• Story Tiering: Follow newsroom tiering workflows to maximize readers and plays.
