Job summary

Ascent Behavioral Hospital in Millcreek, UT is seeking a part-time Recreation Therapist to join the Clinical Services team on weekends. You will design and facilitate therapeutic recreation groups aligned with treatment plans and support adolescents’ emotional regulation, social skills, and coping strategies.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, CPR/First Aid certification, and ability to work with youth in a behavioral health setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy or related field.
• Ability to facilitate group activities with adolescents in behavioral health.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to manage challenging behaviors with professionalism and calm demeanor.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
• Must pass a federal background check.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily therapeutic recreation groups and structured activities.
• Assess patient participation and therapeutic response to interventions.
• Document group participation and progress in EMR.
• Collaborate with therapists and nursing staff to ensure continuity of care.
• Participate in treatment team meetings and share observations.
• Support safety initiatives and trauma-informed care practices.
• Adapt activities to meet adolescent developmental needs.
• Model professional boundaries and hospital policy adherence.
