Job summary

Albany Med Health System is seeking a Physician Assistant for weekend coverage in the Acute Care Surgery & Critical Care (ACS&CC) team. The PA will handle inpatient rounds, admissions, and perioperative roles across the surgical service and ICU, working with residents on weekend coverage.

The ideal candidate holds a Master's in PA, NY licensure with NCCPA, and BLS/ACLS, with 1–2 years in emergency/trauma a plus.

Qualifications

• Current NYS licensure and NCCPA certification are required.
• BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
• Willing to audit or ATLS certification is preferred.
• 1-2 years of experience in emergency, trauma, or acute surgical care is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform inpatient rounds and contribute to clinical decision-making.
• Coordinate admissions and transfers to ensure seamless transitions of care.
• Document all patient encounters accurately in the EMR.
• Provide first or second assist in the operating room.
• Coordinate patient discharges and ensure follow-up care is arranged.
• Respond to ACS&CC consults and provide timely evaluations.
• Collaborate with attending surgeons, residents, and nursing staff.
