Job summary

Fairpark Health & Rehabilitation is seeking an Activity Assistant for weekend shifts (Saturday & Sunday), 3 hours per shift. You will help plan and lead resident activities, encourage participation, and assist with trips and programs.

As part of a compassionate team, you will support residents with cognitive or physical needs, manage supplies, and ensure safety and adherence to policies while contributing to a warm, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required or equivalent work experience.
  • Six months to one year experience in activity-related duties.
  • Ability to work with individuals who have cognitive, physical or sensory disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in planning, coordinating, and evaluating resident activities.
  • Encourages resident participation in programs and activities.
  • Escorts residents on activities away from the property as assigned.
  • Assists with the registration of residents for trips and programs.
  • Conducts various activities at the direction of the Resident Program Director.
  • Maintains necessary activity supplies, including outside purchasing.
  • Assists in surveying and interviewing residents to determine interests and satisfaction.
  • Keeps general observation of residents and shares information with staff.
  • Follows departmental budget guidelines.
  • Attends required training, in-service, and staff meetings.
  • Maintains safety and professional demeanor; adheres to company policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists in planning, coordinating, and evaluating resident activities.
  • Encourages resident participation in programs and activities.
  • Escorts residents on activities away from the property as assigned.
  • Assists with the registration of residents for trips and programs.
  • Conducts various activities at the direction of the Resident Program Director.
  • Maintains necessary activity supplies, which may include outside purchasing.
  • Assists in the surveying and interviewing of residents to determine interests, talents and resident satisfaction.
  • Maintains general observation of residents and shares appropriate information with staff.
  • Follows departmental budget guidelines.
  • Attends all required training, in-service, and staff meetings.
  • Strives to maintain a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment, and the achievement of safe working practices.
  • Maintains a positive and professional demeanor toward residents, visitors, families, and co-workers.
  • Adheres to all Company policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED required or equivalent related work experience.
  • Six (6) months to one (1) year experience or related experience performing activity related duties
  • Skill at working with individuals who have cognitive, physical or sensory disabilities
Moderate physical activity:
  • Requires handling of average-weight objects up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
  • Repetitive standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
  • Repetitive bending and/or stooping for more than one (1) hour at a time.
  • Sitting for more than two (2) hours at a time.
  • May require consistent computer work with repetitive typing and concentrating on a computer screen.
