Job summary

FAIRMONT Hawai’i is seeking a Weddings & Catering Manager to craft bespoke experiences for clients and work closely with Banquet and Culinary teams to design memorable events. The role blends organization, communication, and hands-on event coordination across intimate to grand occasions, on-site at our property.

Responsibilities include responding to inquiries, developing wedding packages, promoting events, and coordinating with vendors for flawless execution.

Qualifications

  • Must speak, read, write and understand English.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be service oriented and able to communicate effectively with persons at all levels.
  • Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Opera and Social Tables experience is an asset.
  • Extensive Food and Beverage knowledge.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, high volume environment.
  • Strong team player with professionalism and accountability.
  • Prior hospitality management exposure is a plus.

  • Conduct catering sales sites for prospecting social events.
  • Assist in developing new business ideas and promotions across market segments, focusing on Wedding/Catering Sales and Venue Private Events.
  • Create and promote unique wedding packages.
  • Proactively sell and service wedding, social and catering events.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to develop promotional materials to support revenue growth.
  • Communicate estimated event revenue to Director of Conference Services & Catering.
  • Generate Banquet Event Orders, resumes and event diagrams promptly.
  • Participate in meetings to ensure service delivery excellence.
  • Build partnerships with banquet team and vendors to maintain service standards.
  • Provide event day coordination for seamless execution.
  • Confirm all arrangements with vendors and entertainment, including payments.
  • Maintain aloha spirit with engaging, timely, and courteous service.
  • Meet with wedding clients, group contacts and meeting planners on site.

Job Description

As a Weddings & Catering Manager, you will have the invaluable opportunity to create bespoke experiences for your clients. As a Weddings & Catering Manager, you will be working closely with our Banquet and Culinary teams menus and design events for your clients. From intimate social gatherings to extravagant events, your organization, detailed planning and communication skills will have our guests feeling cherished and incredible. *Po s ition is based on-site.

Salary range: $80,000-$90,000

What you will be doing:

  • Respond to inquiries regarding wedding/catering/event space availability in a professional and timely manner; conduct follow-up calls after information has been sent.
  • Conduct catering sales sites for prospecting social events.
  • Assist in developing new business ideas and the promotion of existing business within all our market segments, focused primarily on Wedding/Catering Sales and Venue Private Events.
  • Create and promote unique wedding packages.
  • Proactively sell and service wedding, social and catering events.
  • Build relationship with Marketing to develop promotional materials as needed to support further revenue growth.
  • Communicate estimated event revenue to Director of Conference Services & Catering.
  • Generate Banquet Event Orders, resumes and event diagrams in a timely fashion.
  • Participate in periodic Catering/Banquet/Kitchen/Venue meetings to ensure perfection in service delivery.
  • Build partnership with banquet team and vendors to ensure service standards are maintained.
  • Provide event day coordination to ensure the seamless execution of event elements.
  • Confirm all arrangements with vendors and entertainment, including the processing of payments.
  • Maintain atmosphere of aloha spirit by providing engaging, personalized, timely, and efficient service to our discerning guests.
  • Focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times.
  • Conduct sales sites for potential wedding and catering business.
  • Meet with wedding clients, group contacts and meeting planners on site.

Schedule: Due to the nature of the hospitality industry, employees are required to work varying schedules, including overnight, weekends and holidays, to accommodate the business and demands of the hotel.

Qualifications:
Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the English language.
  • Requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
  • Must be service oriented and capable of communicating effectively with persons involved in all levels of authority, both internally and externally.
  • Must possess basic computational ability.
  • Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge with Opera and Social Tables is an asset
  • Extensive Food and Beverage knowledge.
  • Must be able to multi-task and be detail-oriented in a fast paced, high volume environment with minimum supervision.
  • Must have ability to work independently and to prioritize or seek clarification in prioritizing work assignments.
  • Assertive, self-starter, self-motivator with a high degree of professionalism and accountability.
  • Must be a strong team player and able to meet deadlines.
  • Maintain a professional working environment and attitude.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Catering and/or Weddings Manager.

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent or vocational training
  • College degree in Hospitality management or related field preferred
