Job summary

Thimble Alterations is expanding its network of independent alteration professionals in Virginia. We specialize in bridal and wedding wear and seek experienced contractors to perform fittings, alterations, and finishing on gowns and formal attire.

As an independent contractor, you will receive local client requests through our platform, with the flexibility to accept jobs that fit your schedule and to grow repeat clients and reviews over time.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with bridal and/or women's formalwear alterations.
• Strong garment construction knowledge and precise measuring.
• Machine and hand sewing proficiency.
• Professional communication and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Alter wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, and mother-of-the-bride/groom dresses (hemming, bustle, bodice/waist, straps, cups, zippers)
• Work with structured bridal gowns (layers, lace, beading, linings, boning/tulle)
• Conduct fittings, take precise measurements, and communicate timelines clearly
• Deliver high-quality finishing and maintain an organized workspace suitable for fittings

Join our network of independent alteration professionals specializing in bridal and wedding wear.

What You'll Do

• Alter wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, and mother‑of‑the‑bride/groom dresses (hemming, bustle, bodice/waist, straps, cups, zippers)
• Work with structured bridal gowns (multiple layers, lace, beading, linings, boning/tulle)
• Conduct fittings, take precise measurements, and communicate timelines clearly
• Deliver high-quality finishing and maintain an organized workspace suitable for fittings

We also receive requests for prom dresses, evening gowns, cocktail dresses, suits, and other formalwear.

Requirements
