Job summary

NYC IT Inc. seeks an experienced WebSphere Administrator to support production maintenance and implementation of critical government HR/Payroll systems in the New York area.

The role focuses on administering IBM WebSphere tWAS & Liberty on Linux/UNIX, performing installations, upgrades, patching, and troubleshooting, and collaborating with CI/CD and DevOps teams to ensure reliable, scalable middleware services.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Middleware Administration experience.
• Strong experience with WebSphere tWAS & Liberty on Linux/UNIX.
• Experience with Git, Ansible, middleware upgrades, and production troubleshooting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field + 4 years relevant experience; OR Bachelor’s degree + 8 years relevant experience; OR equivalent education/experience

Responsibilities

• Administer IBM WebSphere tWAS & Liberty on Linux/UNIX, including server.xml, bootstrap.properties, and jvm.options.
• Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and troubleshoot middleware and applications.
• Support IBM MQ, IBM HTTP Server, WebSphere Message Broker, WebLogic, and Cognos.
• Use Git and Ansible for source control, automation, configuration management, and application deployments.
• Support Jenkins/CloudBees, CI/CD, DevOps, and Configuration-as-Code environments.
• Troubleshoot Java/application issues, SQL/database issues, and perform Root Cause Analysis.
• Provide 24x7 production support, including nights/weekends as required.
• Work independently, prioritize tasks, document solutions, and communicate effectively with technical teams.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of Middleware Administration experience.
• Strong experience with WebSphere tWAS & Liberty and Linux/UNIX.
• Experience with Git, Ansible, middleware upgrades, and production troubleshooting.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field + 4 years relevant experience; OR Bachelor’s degree + 8 years relevant experience; OR equivalent education/experience in datacenter, cloud, or complex IT infrastructure engineering/operations.

Preferred: Jenkins/CloudBees, DevOps, Configuration-as-Code, IBM MQ, WebLogic, Cognos, and related middleware experience.
