Job summary

Grit & Gravel is seeking a skilled WordPress & WebFlow Designer/Developer to join our growing web experience team in the US. You’ll maintain client WordPress/WebFlow sites, implement changes, and optimize performance while collaborating with project managers, designers, and SEO specialists.

Applicants must submit 3–5 example sites built from scratch. Expect a fast-paced, creative environment with opportunities for growth and impactful client work across senior living operators.

Qualifications

  • Must have 3–5 impressive WordPress sites built from scratch.
  • 5+ years of professional WordPress and/or WebFlow development experience.
  • Proficient with page builders such as Elementor, WPBakery, or Gutenberg.
  • Ability to modify child themes, work with templates, and build themes from scratch.
  • Confident in installing, configuring, and updating plugins; staging & hosting experience.
  • Knowledge of technical SEO, site structure impact on ranking, and performance optimization.
  • Familiar with security best practices, backups, and analytics tracking.
  • Experience with ACF, CPTs, and advanced customization.
  • Strong communication and cross-team collaboration with designers, PMs, and SEO.

Responsibilities

  • Build, manage, and maintain WordPress and WebFlow websites for clients.
  • Implement client-requested changes including content updates, new pages, and design tweaks.
  • Troubleshoot site issues and implement fast, effective solutions.
  • Monitor uptime, performance, backups, and security; optimize for speed.

Job description

We are looking for a skilled, experienced, and creative WordPress & WebFlow Designer and Developer to join our growing web experience team.

To be considered for this role, ALL applicants must include a resume with a minimum of 3-5 examples of the most impressive and/or complex WordPress sites you’ve built from scratch yourself.

As a WordPress and WebFlow Developer at Grit & Gravel, you’ll be responsible for the full maintenance and management of our clients’ WordPress or WebFlow sites—including updates, troubleshooting, optimization, CRM integrations, and custom development. You'll collaborate closely with project managers, development & SEO team, and graphic designers to ensure a seamless and easy experience for our clients.

General Responsibilities
  • Build, manage, and maintain a variety of WordPress and WebFlow websites
  • Implement client-requested changes including content updates, new pages/sections, and design tweaks
  • Troubleshoot site issues and implement solutions quickly and effectively
  • Proactively look for potential user, device, and securityissues on our sites
  • Perform regular updates to plugins, themes, and WordPress core
  • Ensure all sites are secure, responsive, and optimized for speed
  • Collaborate with the design and content team to build new pages or sections
  • Set up staging environments and manage deployments when needed
  • Monitor uptime, performance, and backups across all hosted properties
  • Recommend improvements for functionality, UX, and scalability
Technical Skill Requirements
  • Experience: 5+ years of professional experience with WordPress and/or WebFlow development and maintenance
  • Page Builders: Must be proficient with tools like Elementor, WPBakery, or Gutenberg
  • Themes: Must be able to modify child themes, work with templates, and build themes from scratch
  • Plugin Management: Confident in installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and updating plugins when needed.
  • Staging & Hosting: Must be comfortable with staging environments and cPanel/hosting platforms
  • SEO: Understands technical SEO (like sitemaps, meta tags, schema) and how site structure affects ranking.
  • Site Speed Optimization: Can diagnose and fix slow sites using caching, image compression, and code cleanup.
  • Security Best Practices: Familiar with securing WordPress sites (firewalls, permissions, malware scans, etc.)
  • Functionality: Knowledge of advanced custom fields (ACF), custom post types, etc
  • Analytics: Expert with site analytics and performance tracking tools (Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Search Console)
  • Design: Ability to develop a page that perfectly matches a high-fidelity design provided by a designer. Also able to create subsequent pages or sections matching the aesthetic of the rest of the site without an exact design to follow.
  • DNS & Domain Management: Ability to update DNS records, set up redirects, and launch sites properly.
Soft Skill Requirements
  • Task Management: Organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and sites with varying levels of complexity at the same time. Must work within an already established project management system.
  • Communication: Can communicate and explain technical points to non-technical clients in a way they can understand and make sense of to make decisions.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Works well with project managers, designers, copywriters, advertisers, and SEO strategists
  • Solution-minded: Able to solve problems and provide a clear solution for the client
Nice to Have
  • Agency Experience: Experience working with marketing or creative agencies
  • Version Control: Familiarity with Git or platforms like GitHub/Bitbucket is a plus
  • Design: Skilled in UX/UI design
  • Senior Living: Experience working with senior living owners and operators
  • Platform Experience: Zapier, ActiveDemand, Further, WelcomeHome CRM, & HubSpot
