Position Summary
Responsible for maintenance, servicing, and repairs of roads and other infrastructure assets. This individual will maintain contracted assets (such as roadways, medians, signs, guardrails, fences, bridges, tunnels, vegetation, etc.) according to contract standards and supervisor instructions.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure safe Traffic Control by setting up and removing traffic control devices including cones, message/arrow boards, and temporary signage.
- Work comfortably at heights using bucket trucks, scaffolding, ladders, and aerial lifts.
- Perform basic maintenance and repairs on bridge structures and equipment rooms, including portals, railings, expansion joints, doors, and painting.
- Maintain the functionality of roadway catch basins, sumps, pumps, fire hydrants, and other mechanical assets using appropriate tools.
- Maintain equipment room ventilation systems.
- Perform basic electrical system repairs, including emergency telephones, CCTV, electronic traffic signs, call boxes, lane signals, and lighting.
- Transport crew and equipment to work sites using large trucks, trailers, and specialized vehicles.
- Be available for emergency response rotations, including overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Maintain and repair highway surfaces, including potholes, striping, and reflectors, using concrete and asphalt.
- Ensure highways are clean through litter and debris removal.
- Maintain slopes, berms, culverts, and drains with hand or power tools.
- Manage vegetation with mowing equipment, trimmers, and chemical sprayers.
- Maintain signs, guardrails, fences, and lighting through repairs or replacements.
- Keep roadways clear of debris, ice, and snow using removal and sanding equipment.
- Transport crew and equipment to sites using pickup trucks and specialized vehicles.
- Respond to emergency needs during rotations, including overtime and holidays.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with legal requirements to avoid legal challenges.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of underground infrastructure maintenance.
- Practice safe work methods to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Recognize hazards and adjust work practices accordingly.
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
- Perform basic math calculations.
- Understand instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Read and interpret safety rules, manuals, and procedures.
- Work flexibly and extensively to meet business needs.
- Attention to detail and ownership of responsibilities.
- Basic knowledge of materials, tools, and methods used in concrete, asphalt repair, construction, and maintenance.
- Skill in using small hand and power tools.
- Interface professionally with the public.
Education and Experience
- HS Diploma or GED required.
- One year of experience in infrastructure maintenance preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.
- CDL, DOT, Electrical, and Welding certifications are highly desirable.
Work Conditions/Travel Requirements
Physical Demands: Regularly required to stand, sit, walk, handle, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, lift up to 50 pounds, and work at heights or in confined spaces. Vision abilities include close and distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
Work Environment: Exposure to traffic, weather conditions, chemicals, insects, and occasional reptiles/rodents. Noise levels are usually moderate but can vary.
