Job Description

Position Summary: Provides leadership and supervision of maintenance crews performing maintenance, servicing, and repairs of roads and infrastructure assets, including signs, guardrails, bridges, tunnels, vegetation, and more, ensuring compliance with standards and contractual requirements.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Train, direct, and coordinate maintenance crews based on local work plans, ensuring safety and efficiency.
  • Monitor employee performance; provide coaching, rewards, or disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Lead local emergency responses and manage road closures or incidents.
  • Set up and remove traffic control devices to ensure safe Maintenance of Traffic (M.O.T).
  • Work at heights using bucket trucks, scaffolding, ladders, and aerial lifts.
  • Perform basic maintenance and repairs on structures, equipment rooms, and mechanical assets.
  • Maintain roadway features such as catch basins, fire hydrants, and signage using appropriate tools.
  • Handle electrical systems, CCTV, traffic signs, and lighting maintenance.
  • Transport crew and equipment to work sites using trucks and trailers.
  • Participate in emergency response rotations, including overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Maintain and repair highway surfaces, perform litter removal, and control vegetation.
  • Ensure the appearance and functionality of signs, guardrails, fences, and lighting.
  • Operate snow removal and sanding equipment as needed.
  • Contribute to a diverse and inclusive work environment and adhere to company policies and legal requirements.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of underground infrastructure maintenance.
  • Commitment to safe work practices and hazard recognition.
  • Ability to wear PPE and communicate effectively.
  • Perform basic math and interpret instructions and manuals.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours and ownership of responsibilities.
  • Basic skills in concrete, asphalt repair, and equipment use.
  • Professional interaction with the public.
Education and Experience
  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ year experience in infrastructure maintenance (preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required; CDL, DOT, electrical, or welding certifications are highly desirable.
Work Conditions and Physical Demands

Requires physical activity including lifting up to 50 pounds, working at heights, in confined spaces, and exposure to outdoor weather, traffic, chemicals, insects, and noise.

Work Environment

Exposure to traffic, weather extremes, chemicals, and noise, with occasional exposure to hazardous conditions.
