Job Description
Position Summary

Load equipment and tow to job site locations. Maintain contracted assets (roadways, medians, signs, guardrails, fences, bridges, tunnels, vegetation, etc.) as per standards and contract conditions.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair highway surfaces and related infrastructure, including signs, guardrails, fences, lighting, potholes, striping, reflectors, litter, and debris removal.
  • Follow sweeping plans and operate vehicles and equipment accordingly. Assist in maintenance of sweeping equipment to ensure continuous operation.
  • Operate vehicles and equipment for surface and right-of-way maintenance and repair, including slopes, berms, culverts, drains, and vegetation control.
  • Set up and remove traffic control measures.
  • Transport crew and equipment to work sites.
  • Be available for emergency response rotations, including overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to understand written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions, and interpret safety rules, operating manuals, and procedures.
  • Adaptability to changing demands and priorities.
  • Knowledge of hand and power tools, traffic control devices, and mobile equipment used in surface and right-of-way maintenance.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least three years of related experience in construction, road maintenance, repair, or landscaping.
  • Valid CDL Class B driver’s license.
  • Tanker Endorsement (CDL Tanker).
  • Completion of training in traffic control, first aid, WHMIS, and occupational health.
Work Conditions and Physical Demands
  • Strong safety awareness and hazard recognition skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and operate manual and powered tools and equipment.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold, humidity, high places, fumes, chemicals, insects, and occasional reptiles or rodents.
  • Moderate to high noise levels, with occasional increases.
