Description
Job Summary:
As a Press Operator I, you will run and maintain assigned press equipment as well as assist in training of other crewmembers. Also, you will operate high level press equipment in the absence of a level II operator and the level III.
Essential Functions:
- Work with crewmembers in operating the press equipment, cleaning and maintaining equipment, changing paper rolls, and performing other assigned duties.
- Ensure maintenance activities are thoroughly accomplished and documented.
- Consistently inspects and maintains a high quality of work. Work with the Foreman to see all running samples are pulled, inspected, and initialed.
- Ensure sample copies are of the highest quality.
- Follows all SOPs and works to ensure others on the crew do also. When violations or errors are made, operators are responsible for either informing the Foreman or training (correcting) the individual as appropriate.
- Verify press counts by checking Autocount to the counters and initial packing slips as appropriate.
- Ensure all Autocount printouts and computer entries are correct and accurate.
- Works to keep the entire press area clean during production runs and down time, using the resources available efficiently as well as instructing others on the crew to ensure the Press Operator III's requirements are met.
- Successfully completes the department's training program.
- Ensures safety policies and procedures are met.
- Maintains a rotation among crewmembers to each workstation on the press.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift and move materials weighing between 30 and 75 pounds.
- Must be able to use hands for a variety of repetitive material handling tasks about 90% of an 8-hour shift constantly.
- Kneel and squat to do work on an occasional basis.
- Must be able to constantly stand for up to 8 hours.
- Must be able to climb two flights of stairs (about 23 steps) on an occasionally basis.
- Required to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time.
- Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects or use controls, tools or equipment.
- May require the ability to use a keyboard and other office equipment.
- May require specific vision abilities that include close vision.
- May be required to perform concentrated work for extended periods of time.
- May be required to lift, carry or exert items or objects of reasonable weight.
- May be required to perform duties beyond standard business hours.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED and four years' experience in Press Operations.
