Job summary

RR Donnelley is seeking a Press Assistant for a 12-hour day shift rotation (7:00 AM–7:00 PM). Schedule: Mon, Tue, Fri; Week 2: Sun, Wed, Thu. You will prepare the press, verify specs, and assist with maintenance while ensuring color accuracy and safety.

The role requires teamwork, basic tool use, and a background in a printing environment. Compensation includes a comprehensive benefits package and overtime opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the press for a run by verifying job specs and setting up.
• Inspect fountain solution, inking systems, rolls of paper and related mechanisms.
• Maintain paper inventory and record usage/spoilage.
• Ensure paper rolls are unwrapped, mounted, and ready to splice.
• Monitor paper flow and install new rolls as needed.
• Assist press operators in preventative maintenance and repairs.
• Help with make-readies as needed.
• Adjust ink/solvent/varnish to achieve color as required by location.
• Follow safety policies including hazardous waste handling and lockout/tagout rules.
• Support documented processes per ISO Quality Manual.

Job Description

• This position is for a 12-hour day shift rotating (7:00AM to 7:00PM). Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Week 2: Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday

Requirements

• Prepares the press for a run by verifying job specs and setting up the press accordingly
• Inspects the fountain solution, inking systems, rolls of paper and the mechanisms related to the reels
• Maintains proper inventory of paper. Records usage and spoilage on SPC report
• Ensures that the roll of paper is properly unwrapped, mounted and ready to be spliced
• Monitors the flow of paper throughout the run. Prepares and installs new roll when necessary
• Works in conjunction with the press operators and other assigned Press Assistants in the preventative maintenance of the presses.
• Assists maintenance personnel in troubleshooting and making repairs to press
• May assist with make-readies
• May adjust ink, solvent, and varnish to ensure that proper color is established or maintained as required by location
• Adheres to and promotes all safety policies and procedures including, but not limited to the proper handling of hazardous waste, lock out - tag out rules and hearing and eye protection policies
• Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned
• It is the responsibility of all Solution Delivery employees to follow the requirements of their documented process as defined in the ISO Quality Manual

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a printing environment preferred
• Some experience in the operation of various hand tools preferred
• Must be able to work in a team environment

The pay range for this role at the noted location is $18.11 to $27.31 per hour. The actual rate of pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and stand-by pay.
