Job summary

Big Impact Tech (BIT) in Chantilly, VA, seeks a software engineer to design, develop, and maintain web-based applications. You will work with BAs, UI/UX, and SMEs to understand requirements, produce specifications, write code, and perform unit tests in cloud-enabled environments.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years of web development, strong C#.NET/Bootstrap skills, AWS experience, and a bachelor’s degree in CS or related field. TS/SCI with Poly is required for this role.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of web development experience.
• Solid knowledge of C#.NET and Bootstrap.
• Experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native apps.
• Understanding of web development principles, languages, and conventions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Research, design, develop and modify software systems (custom, COTS, GOTS).
• Collaborate with business analysts, UI/UX developers, and SMEs to gather requirements.
• Develop cost estimates for software development and perform impact analysis.
• Adhere to configuration change control standards and promote system improvements.
• Produce specifications, write code, and conduct unit testing.
• Write interfaces and conversion routines leveraging web APIs.
• Support formal testing in controlled environments prior to production.
• Contribute to training manuals for users and stay current with feature changes.

Position Overview

Responsibilities

• Responsible for researching, designing, developing and/or modifying software systems (e.g., custom, COTS, GOTS).


• Works closely with business analysts, UI/UX developers, and subject matter experts to understand functional requirements.


• Develops cost estimates for software development and enhancements and conducts impact analysis for software changes.


• Adheres to program configuration change control standards.


• Presents ideas for system improvements.


• Produces detailed specifications, writes software code, and conducts unit testing.


• Writes interfaces and conversion routines leveraging web APIs.


• Supports formal testing in controlled environment before code is promoted to production.


• Provides input into training manuals for users.


• Maintains knowledge of feature and technical changes in the application.

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years relevant web development experience


• Experience with C#.NET and Bootstrap


• Experience employing AWS cloud services to create cloud-native applications


• Knowledge of web development principals, techniques, languages, and standard programming styles and conventions


• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar


• Ability to manage multiple priority tasks
