Job summary

The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) is seeking an experienced software developer to join the Software Solutions team. You will design, develop and implement web applications within an education data systems environment, collaborating with program staff to deliver innovative solutions.

Responsibilities span the project lifecycle from concept to maintenance, including requirements gathering, technical specification creation, and production support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology (IT) or Computer Science plus two years of IT experience or coursework in the last five years.
• Two or more of VB.NET, C#, or ASP.NET with Microsoft SQL Server experience.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Ability to quickly learn new tools and technologies.

Responsibilities

• Participates in full project lifecycle from concept through deployment and maintenance.
• Develops web-based applications to improve operations for districts, educators, and students.
• Translates requirements into technical specifications for small to medium projects.
• Collaborates with stakeholders and vendors to deliver timely, cost-effective solutions.
• Analyzes production issues and resolves end-user service requests.
