Job summary

Illinois State Board of Education seeks an experienced Web Developer to design, develop, and implement software solutions within the Software Solutions team. The role collaborates with program staff to build sophisticated web applications in an education data systems environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in information technology or computer science with related IT experience or coursework
Demonstrated experience with two of VB.NET, C#, or ASP.NET and Microsoft SQL Server
Knowledge of IT concepts, principles, and theories
Strong written and oral communications skills
Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Ability to quickly pick up new tools and technologies
Ability to facilitate meetings and follow up with resulting action items
Ability to work independently on issues and projects
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills

Responsibilities

Involved throughout the entire project lifecycle from concept to maintenance of web-based systems
Develops web-based applications to improve operations for districts, educators and students
Gathers requirements and translates them into technical specs for small to medium projects
Collaborates with partners and vendors to deliver cost-effective, timely solutions
Engages with analysts to understand requirements and prepare project status reviews
Maintains existing production systems and resolves issues promptly
Addresses end-user service requests as assigned
Applies standard software development processes and project management methods
Performs other duties as assigned
