Job Description

Day to day responsibilities: The Senior Web Developer will work with a large group of passionate technology enthusiasts on one of the largest sports websites in the world and associated team sites. Opportunity exists for career growth and to work with cutting‑edge web technologies in a casual but professional atmosphere. Projects include web analytics, streaming video, live scoring, template-driven publishing, design implementation, prototyping, social media integration, and automated syndication of content.

• Develops web publishing systems, applications, and microsites across enterprise websites.
• Mentors junior web developers on technical issues and modern web development best practices.
• Performs web development, template development, testing, debugging, integration, documentation, and deployment in accordance with industry best practices and specific internal procedures and standards.
• Contributes to task identification and work effort estimates for development and maintenance activities.
• Participates in the analysis, definition, and scoping of efficient, cost-effective application solutions. Consistently meets or exceeds project deadlines.
• Works with internal departments to provide associated deliverables required for the successful completion of development assignments (e.g., business development, web designers, end-user training).
• Works with other internal technical teams to architect scalable solutions.
• Researches new technologies; provides ideas for technical or workflow/process improvements.
• Provides on-call support as needed.

Qualifications

Must Haves:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 5‑7 years’ experience developing dynamic web applications on Unix and Linux.
• Experience with large-scale database-driven web development.
• Analytical and critical thinking skills, as well as strong attention to detail.
• Good interpersonal skills, and written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.

Plusses:

• Previous development leadership experience in a web application environment.
• Experience in all phases of web site development and maintenance life cycle.
• Development experience with Drupal, Object‑Oriented Design, Automation, Unix shell scripting, Freemarker, NoSQL databases, and XSLT.
