Job summary

Energy Excellence Group is seeking a freelance Web Designer in Simi Valley, CA to own technology work with a mid-level title and a compensation range of $109,000 to $149,000 per year. This role emphasizes hands-on coding, system documentation, and collaboration with stakeholders.

You will profile and refactor legacy code, implement secure auth flows, evaluate new tools and Kotlin libraries, and document the Written Communication system so onboarding happens in days rather than weeks.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in software/tech roles.
• Experience profiling and refactoring legacy code.
• Ability to advocate for practical, scalable tech decisions.
• Familiarity with microservices architectures.
• Experience with Kafka or similar messaging systems.
• Ability to document systems clearly for onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Profile and refactor legacy code to reduce technical debt over time.
• Implement secure authentication and authorization flows using Written Communication.
• Evaluate and recommend new tools, frameworks, and Kotlin libraries.
• Document the Written Communication system so the next mid-level engineer onboards in days, not weeks.
• Reproduce the mission-soaked bug from the Simi Valley field report, then make it impossible again.
