Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Senior Network Security Engineer in Chantilly, VA to support deconfliction with mission partners and develop secure networking solutions. The role requires scripting in Python, SQL, and experience with web applications and networking, plus strong cyber security background.

You will work closely with management and a multi-disciplinary team to design, implement, and maintain secure network infrastructure, leveraging Linux environments and common security tools.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
• Minimum 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum 3 years with PhD.
• Proficiency with Linux environments (Debian, Kali, CentOS or Ubuntu) and networking concepts.
• Experience configuring network devices (e.g., routers, switches).
• Experience performing network packet inspection and traffic analysis (Wireshark, TCPdump).
• Understanding of network/cyber security, penetration testing and information security practices.
• Familiarity with Linux security tools (Metasploit, netcat, nmap).
• Experience using scripting languages (bash, Perl, Python).
• Experience building virtual infrastructure (e.g., vSphere).
• Experience in design/implementation/procurement/maintenance of network infrastructure.
• Ability to work with stakeholders and developers on joint project planning and execution.

• Proficiency working in a Linux environment - Debian, Kali, Centos or Ubuntu. Familiar with computer networking technology and terminology (ip addresses, tcp/udp, firewalls, etc.).
• Experience configuring network devices (eg., routers, switches, etc.).
• Experience performing network packet inspection, traffic analysis, performance characterization (e.g., Wireshark, TCPdump, etc.).
• Understanding of network/cyber security, penetration testing and information security practices.
• Understanding of Linux network security tools - (e.g., Metasploit, netcat, nmap, etc.).
• Experience using scripting languages for development, modification, automation, parsing data seta and network monitoring (e.g., bash, Perl, Python, etc.).
• Experience building virtual infrastructure - (e.g., vSphere).
• Experience in either design, implementation, procurement or maintenance of network infrastructure.
• Ability to work with stakeholders and developers to engage in joint project planning and execution.

Target Salary Range

$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
