Job summary

Midwest Air Traffic Control Services Inc. seeks a Weather Forecaster for Keesler AFB to deliver surface weather observations, briefings and forecasts to support flight operations and mission planning for local units.

You will operate meteorological equipment, issue watches and advisories, transmit pilot reports, debrief aircrews, and provide routine weather support requests while maintaining climatological records and a strong focus on safety.

• Produces flight weather briefings and MEFs, and provides mission planning support to local flying units and transient air crews.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Produces and disseminates all required surface weather observations to local customers, inputs them into the shared information database, and records them on applicable forms.
• Maintains and files weather data to include all required climatological records.
• Issues weather watches, warnings, and advisories to customers.
• Responds to and supports all Pilot-to-Metro-Service (PMSV) calls.
• Transmits all required Pilot Reports (PIREPS), Air Reports (AIREPS), and other pilot obtained weather data collected via PMSV or other means (tower, debriefs, etc.) to local customers and inputs them into the shared database.
• Produces flight weather briefings and Mission Execution Forecasts (MEFs) as well as mission planning support to all local flying units and transient air crews using all available weather products and data.
• Debriefs aircrews after completion of missions, including all aspects of the weather provided, accuracy of weather forecast and actual weather conditions.
• Provides customers with pertinent weather information, to include stand‑up briefings.
• Provides or arranges for all routine weather support requests as required by all agencies and units on base to include Concept Weather Briefings for deployments.
• Participates in a Cooperative Weather Watch (CWW) with the local air traffic control and other weather agencies.
• Operates meteorological equipment and all applicable backup equipment.
• Implements and maintains a safe workplace program, ensuring safety is the highest priority.
• Other duties as assigned.
