Job summary

Weapons Specialist - Range 37

Range 37, Fort Bragg, North Carolina

The Weapons Specialist is full-time at Range 37 providing weapons and range support for Army Special Operations Forces training. The position performs small arms maintenance and repair activities for standard and non-standard weapons and ammunition and supports the equipment, tools, accountability, and organizational-level maintenance functions.

Job Duties
  • Perform weapons and range support activities in accordance with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) requirements and specifications.
  • Maintain standard and non-standard weapons and ammunition.
  • Maintain proficiency in the operation and maintenance of equipment, tools, and accessories necessary to support a wide range of small arms, including automatic, semi-automatic, and single-fire pistols, rifles, and shotguns.
  • Perform detailed assembly and disassembly of foreign and domestic small arms weapons.
  • Perform small arms inspection, maintenance, and minor repairs as required.
  • Support ammunition inventory and residue turn-in, publications and catalogues, tool and capital-equipment maintenance, calibration control, weapons cleaning, and organizational-level weapons maintenance.
  • Maintain applicable weapons-maintenance documentation, accountability, tools, and equipment necessary to support Range 37 training operations.
  • Perform assigned duties in austere field conditions when required and navigate on roads and cross-country using military or civilian maps, road signs, landmarks, and/or directions provided by cadre or the chain of command.
Basic Qualifications
  • Meet the Weapons Specialist qualification exactly as stated: Army qualified and in good standing, 18B or 91F series MOS with a minimum of four (4) years of experience; Small Arms Repairer, equitable Military Occupational Specialty (MOS), or equitable civilian certification such as Advanced Gunsmith certification; and subject matter expertise on all aspects of small arms maintenance and repair.
  • Current and valid SECRET security clearance.
  • As a full-time contractor employee, be able to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to carry out contract requirements.
  • Provide proof of U.S. citizenship or eligibility to work in the United States if not a U.S. citizen.
  • Be able to provide information required for installation/facility background and access checks.
  • Be able to perform in an austere field environment in all weather conditions, day and night, during field duties.
  • Be able to navigate on roads and cross-country using military or civilian maps, road signs, landmarks, and/or directions provided by cadre or the chain of command.

General field requirements may involve austere conditions, all weather, day/night duties, and navigation when field duties are assigned.
