Job description

Location: Chicago Western Suburbs / DuPage County, IL

The Opportunity

A growing, independent wealth management firm in Chicago’s western suburbs is looking to add a Wealth Advisor to its advisory team. This is an excellent opportunity for an advisor who has developed a strong foundation in financial planning and client relationship management and is ready to take the next step toward greater ownership of client relationships and a meaningful book of business.

Unlike many advisor opportunities, this position does not require someone to arrive with a substantial portable book or spend their time cold prospecting from scratch. The firm has an established and growing client base and is looking for someone capable of stepping in, developing trusted relationships with existing households, and gradually taking responsibility for an increasingly substantial book.

The ideal candidate will already have several years of advisory experience, their CFP® designation, and the confidence to work directly with clients while continuing to develop under an experienced advisory team.

What You’ll Do

You’ll serve as a key relationship manager for individuals and families, helping clients navigate their broader financial lives through a comprehensive, planning-first approach. Responsibilities will include developing and presenting financial plans, conducting ongoing client review meetings, coordinating investment and portfolio needs, identifying planning opportunities, and working collaboratively with internal specialists and senior advisors.

As you become established, you’ll have the opportunity to take increasing ownership of existing client relationships and build upon that book, both by deepening relationships with current households and developing new business opportunities.

This is a role for someone who wants to become a trusted advisor to clients, not simply a salesperson or an investment manager.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • 3+ years of experience in financial planning, wealth management, or an advisory capacity
  • Meaningful experience working directly with clients and participating in or leading financial planning meetings
  • Strong knowledge of comprehensive financial planning and investment concepts
  • Ability to develop trusted, long‑term relationships with clients
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and interest in helping grow a book of business
  • A collaborative personality and desire to work as part of a team
  • High standards of professionalism, integrity, and client service
  • A genuine desire to continue developing as an advisor and take on greater responsibility over time

Compensation & Growth

The firm can offer a competitive base salary with meaningful variable compensation on top of the base.

Importantly, the compensation structure is designed to grow alongside the advisor. Additional compensation will be tied to factors including the size and scope of the relationships the advisor oversees, contribution to the existing book, and new business/assets they help bring to the firm.

For someone who performs well and continues taking ownership of client relationships, there is significant opportunity to increase total compensation over time.

Why Consider It?

This is particularly attractive for an advisor who has earned their CFP® and developed several years of experience but may feel that their current firm isn’t giving them enough client ownership or a clear path forward.

You’ll be joining an established, growing independent firm with a strong existing client base, a comprehensive approach to financial planning, and a collaborative environment where advisors can build meaningful careers.

Rather than being told to “bring us a book and figure it out,” you'll have an opportunity to take responsibility for existing relationships, prove yourself as an advisor, and build upon a strong foundation already in place.

For the right person, this can become a long-term career opportunity with increasing client ownership, responsibility, and financial upside.
