Job description

Position Summary

The Private Wealth Advisor's (PWA) primary responsibility is to serve as a personal relationship manager for Busey Wealth Management clients. The Advisor will engage in proactive and ongoing communication to build and maintain relationships, gaining a deep understanding of clients' unique goals and objectives. The reporting structure may vary based on regional needs; a PWA can report to a Market or Regional President, and in some cases, to a Managing Director, Director, or a PWA II.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Manage and develop a designated book of Wealth Management Clients, including high-net-worth individuals, families, and institutional clients such as foundations and endowments.
  2. Coordinate with our Investment Team, Financial Planning and Tax Specialists, Estate Planning, Portfolio Management, and Private Client banking services to create comprehensive financial strategies that help clients achieve their goals.
  3. Actively seek new business opportunities, including acquiring additional assets from existing clients and attracting new high-net-worth clients.
  4. Monitor and service client accounts daily, ensuring smooth operations and compliance with firm policies.
  5. Act as the primary relationship manager for assigned clients, meeting regularly to review and enhance client relationships.
  6. Drive new sales opportunities and participate in discovery/needs-based sales training.
  7. Serve as a resource and occasionally lead projects within the team.
  8. Ensure operational compliance and high client service standards in account administration.
  9. Complete mandatory account reviews and provide recommendations aligned with clients' financial plans and Investment Policy Statements.
  10. Communicate regularly with clients about their investment strategies and financial plans.
  11. Provide high-level service to clients, beneficiaries, advisors, and related parties, escalating issues as necessary.

Education & Experience

Knowledge of:

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Sales and client service expertise
  • Wealth Management services, including investments, financial planning, banking, trust concepts, asset allocation, and estate procedures
  • Fiduciary principles in managing client relationships

Ability to:

  • Develop and manage client relationships at an advanced level
  • Make independent decisions
  • Respond promptly to client needs
  • Collaborate effectively with team members
  • Strategically analyze clients' financial situations
  • Interpret numerical data and solve complex problems
  • Understand and apply relevant regulations and procedures
  • Work effectively under time pressures

Education and Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Finance, or equivalent experience with high-net-worth clients
  • Certified Financial Planner designation preferred
  • Maintain good standing with First Busey Corporation's continuing education requirements
  • Commit to ongoing professional development
  • Proficiency with Trust Accounting systems and Microsoft Office Suite
