Alerus is seeking a Wealth Advisor to enhance client relationships and drive new business opportunities. You will act as the primary contact for clients, delivering comprehensive financial advice with a support team of specialists.

The role emphasizes growth with existing clients (60%) and new clients (40%). You will develop expertise in financial planning, investments, and tax strategies, while pursuing ongoing professional development and CFP/CFA/CPA credentials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field or equivalent work experience.
• 5 years of financial services experience working with high net worth clients.
• Maintain an active financial services license (Insurance, Investment, Brokerage).
• Plan to achieve or complete professional accreditation (CFP, CFA, CPA).
• Ability to attract and retain high net worth clients.
• Proven sales ability and client service skills.
• Experience using CRM software to track opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a portfolio of high-net-worth clients, providing advanced financial advice and solutions.
• Serve as the primary contact for clients, helping them select financial solutions.
• Conduct regular relationship reviews and assess clients’ financial needs.
• Update CRM to capture client activity and schedule follow-ups.
• Proactively solicit new business with existing and prospective clients.
• Represent Alerus in the marketplace by networking and community involvement.
• Maintain advanced knowledge of financial planning concepts including loans, investments, and protection planning.
• Develop understanding of estate planning, charitable giving, trusts, and tax management.
• Pursue continuing education and self-development to enhance skills.
• Foster solid working relationships with team members and support their development.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Wealth Advisors enhance existing relationships and develop new business opportunities. Wealth Advisors deliver comprehensive financial advice to Alerus clients by serving as their trusted primary point of contact with the support of a team of specialists. All advisors assist clients in their selection of Alerus products by recommending appropriate Alerus solutions to ensure the client successfully achieves their financial wellness goals. Wealth Advisors are expected to focus their time on developing new business with existing clients 60% and new clients 40%, approximately.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

• Manage and grow a portfolio of high-net-worth clients, providing advanced financial advice and solutions.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, assisting them in selecting financial solutions.

WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE:

• Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related field or equivalent work experience required.
• 5 years of financial services experience working with high net worth clients.
• Maintain an active financial services license i.e. Insurance, Investment, and/or Brokerage.
• Plan to achieve or completion of professional and/or financial services accreditation(s) i.e. CFP, CFA, CPA.
• Ability to attract and retain high net worth clients.
• Expertise in assessing a client’s financial needs and making proactive recommendations.
• Previous experience utilizing CRM software to track and manage sales opportunities.
• Record of proven sales ability and client service abilities.
• Proven written and verbal communication skills.
• Established interpersonal and negotiating skills.
• Advanced math proficiency.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is typically performed in an office setting. The employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to move about the office utilizing proper ergonomic safeguards when doing so. Additionally, the employee must occasionally lift or move supplies and materials up to 20 pounds.

BASE PAY RANGE:

$60,000 per year plus incentive compensation.
