Washington Soldiers Home, part of the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs, is seeking an Office Assistant 3 (HUC) to support resident care, coordinate with families and providers, and maintain efficient nursing station operations.

The Washington State Department of Veteran Affairs (WDVA) is seeking a full-time Office Assistant 3 (HUC) at the historic Washington Soldiers Home in Orting, WA. As a frontline representative of the Washington Soldiers Home, this position helps promote the quality of care we provide for our residents. You will communicate and coordinate with residents, families, healthcare providers, outside agencies, and internal teams to support treatment options, referral appointments, and responsive resident care.
Updated as of July 1, 2025: This position is eligible for "Supplement Basic Shift Premium" for 24/7 Facilities. Employees who are assigned to a facility that provides direct care to residents, patients, and/or clients and whose duties are required to be performed on location will receive an additional one dollar ($1.00) per hour of supplemental basic shift premium for each hour of basic shift premium. This shift premium does not apply to overtime hours. The supplemental basic shift premium shall expire on June 29, 2027.
*This position has been posted within the assigned pay range through Step L. Step M has not been published as this is considered the longevity step, in alignment with state HR compensation rules.
The hours of work are Tuesday- Saturday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. This position is not eligible for telework.

Answer telephone at the nurse's station and relay messages as needed.
Manage nurses' station during resident meal periods.
Pick up and deliver items between nurses' station and offices as needed.
Print and stock forms at nurses' stations daily and as needed.
Print and stock kudos, employee of the month forms and hang flyers as needed.
Print MARS, TARS, and NAC Kardex
Update nursing shift notes and schedules for resident baths and vital signs daily.
Deliver resident mail and document on log daily.
