Job summary

Walt Disney Imagineering in Glendale, CA is offering a WDI Ride Control Engineering Intern position for the Jan 2027–Jun 2027 timeframe. The internship covers ride control system development, prototyping, simulation, and testing for a specific attraction, with mentorship from a lead engineer.

The approximate date of this internship is January 2027 to June 2027 and will be located in Glendale, CA.

Ride Control Engineers build the most advanced systems that create magical and immersive attractions around the world. These attractions are as exciting for grown adults as they are for kids. We work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment to develop unique control systems for Disney's wide array of exciting rides - from an initial idea to creation to opening a new attraction.

What You Will Do
  • Be part of an engineering team involved in ride control system development, prototyping, simulation, or testing for a specific attraction or development project
  • Design, model, and/or analyze electrical, electronic, and data communication systems
  • Join a project or development team, partnered with a leader who will be your mentor
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Ability to understand and implement basic control system design
  • Experience with programmable controllers used in machine control and robotic applications
  • Ability to conduct electrical/electronic design and calculations
  • Ability to prepare technical documents and CAD drawings
Preferred Qualifications
  • Leadership experience in an engineering organization, or other organized group
  • Membership or leadership in IEEE, SWE, ACM, or equivalent professional organization
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Matlab Control Systems Engineering and/or Control Theory experience
Education
  • Currently enrolled as a Junior attending an accredited college/university earning a degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or related
Preferred Education
  • Control Systems Engineering and/or Control Theory coursework
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
Additional Information
  • Able to provide reliable transportation to/from work
  • Must be fully available for the duration of the internship
  • Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship in Glendale, CA
Pay Rate (Glendale, CA)

The pay rate for this role in Glendale, CA is $31 per hour for undergraduate students and $36 per hour for graduate level students.
