Position Summary

The Work Comp Specialist (WCS) will provide clinic-based industrial services performed within Athletico Physical Therapy. The WCS may also treat acute Physical and Occupational Therapy visits in an Athletico center or in the home. In addition to patient care, the WCS may allocate hours onsite at an employer performing prevention consultations, workforce wellness initiatives, injury prevention training, job analysis, work station analysis, ergonomic risk assessments, and post-offer employment testing. The WCS may also perform independent rehabilitation reviews upon request. Travel within a reasonable distance is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Perform work conditioning evaluations (WCE), work hardening evaluations, re-evaluations, and functional capacity evaluations (FCE).
  2. Provide proper documentation for all evaluations regarding medical, legal, and reimbursement requirements.
  3. Develop comprehensive work conditioning programs based on evaluation results.
  4. Perform comprehensive work conditioning orientation.
  5. Communicate with clinic therapists regarding patients' plans of care for work conditioning.
  6. Act as a Peer to Peer mentor.
  7. Collaborate with local leadership to enhance key performance indicators.
  8. Perform ergonomic consultations locally and nationally.
  9. Conduct pre-placement testing for local and national clients.
  10. Meet productivity standards.
  11. Market and grow customer relations with clients, physicians, case managers, insurance carriers, and employers in collaboration with the Workers Comp Market Development Manager.
  12. Proactively market organizational services.
  13. Collaborate on strategic growth with senior management.
  14. Consult on program-related agreements, proposals, and contracts.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct orientation, mentorship, and training for new hires.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Job Requirements/Specifications

Education and experience should include a Bachelor's degree or licensure/certification from an accredited institution. Licenses in Athletic Training, Occupational Therapy, or Physical Therapy are required or eligible. Compliance with accrediting bodies and current CPR certification are also necessary.
